Sun Salutation

Sun salutation for beginners  is a combination of yoga poses and breathing exercises. In order to practice advanced yogic postures and breathing exercises in pranayama, the spine and body muscles must be flexible enough. The series of postures in Suryanamaskar reduce visceral fat, facilitate spinal and limb flexibility, and also allow for proper breathing.

A total of twelve postures stretch various ligaments and give different movements to the vertebral column. With deep breaths and exhalations alternately, the vertebral column bends forward and backward intermittently. When the body bends forward, the contraction of the abdomen and diaphragm force the breath out. In response to your body bending backward, your chest expands and you automatically inhale deeply. This provides the body with flexibility and allows the lungs to start working, which leads to correct breathing. Additionally, the mild but effective postures promote blood circulation. In the meantime, the sun’s life-giving rays purify the man’s body, removing toxins and invigorating circulation with perspiration – the life that only the sun can give. By practicing , you will lose the stiffness of your stiff muscles and spine.

Thus, Suryanamaskar is a boon for the mankind to attain perfect harmony between the body, mind and spirit.
